1st Place: Clown
The clown earns top marks and is the Alpha morph out of the 25 morphs in our ratings list. It is a pattern and color mutation. According to VPI, the clown got its name from the original wild-caught specimen which had a small tear-shaped marking below its eye that resembled a clown tear. Clowns are a hot commodity due to the extreme beauty of the base morph and the stunning combos!
Pigment (4th) : 3.40
The clown comes in 4th because it doesn't have the overly bright colors like the banana, but typical clowns have an extreme contrast between dark brown along the dorsal and light tan along the sides. Others may have metallic-colored blushing within flames. The head can have orange hues with dark brown spots.
Pattern (1st): 3.84
Clowns come in first in terms of pattern! They are characterized by a dark, extreme dorsal stripe and a unique, aberrant head pattern that resembles a clown's face. The overall pattern can be reduced or busy, but each variation and those in between never fail to disappoint!
Potential (1st): 3.81
The clown shows the most combo potential! They always seem to be in style and every year a breathtaking combo is revealed. I remember when I first saw the killer clown and my jaw dropped. It dropped again when I saw the banana clown, then again with the king clown, then with the pastel enchi clown.
