4th Place: Enchi

Genetics: Co-dominant
First Produced: 2002 (Sweball)
Familiarity: 99% of 87 ratings
Scorecard (1-4)

Pigment (11th):      2.94
Pattern (5th):          3.30
Potential (2nd):      3.67

Avg Score (4th):  3.31
The enchi is a lean, mean combo making machine! It is a pattern and color morh that was named after the African region where they were first discovered. Lars Brandell (Sweball) proved them genetic in 2002 by identifying a pair of out-of-the-ordinary snakes from a special "bag" that came in a farmed shipment from Ghana. He produced offspring from the original pair in 2002 and in 2003 he produced his first super enchis. The super enchi is an extreme example of the single gene morph that is characterized by lighter, intense colors and more banded and reduced patterns.

Pigment (11th) :  2.94
Enchis have a copper/bronze overall appearance with light orange/gold speckling coming up from its flames. The 'uglier' examples can be hard to tell from normals, but the 'pretty' examples are anything but that. I love the look of an exceptional single gene enchi, but color is not its strongest suit out of the 3Ps...

Pattern (5th):  3.30
Typical enchis have beautiful banded, reduced patterns. Some have a dark speckling around their lips which resemble a mustache. Generally, people like the enchi pattern because of its clean look, justifying its 5th place ranking.

Potential (2nd):  3.67
The enchi is a lean, mean combo making machine! The enchi scores its highest ranking in combo potential! It embodies the notion of a morph which isn't that spectacular in single gene form, but produces outrageous looking animals in combo form. It is a key ingredient in the most popular designer morphs due to the color enhancement and reduced pattern effects. Just check out the combos!

My ultimate goal was and still is the super enchi firefly (see slideshow)! What's your goal for the ultimate enchi combo?
