Our Philosophy

We believe that proper ball python husbandry is a skill built through experience, patience, and passion for these animals. Here are the core values we implement on a daily basis:

Attention to Detail

We apply this to every aspect of the game, including proper housing conditions, feeding regimens, breeding practices, ultrasounding, incubation methods, hatchling care, fair animal pricing, customer satisfaction, etc

Love for the Hobby

We firmly believe in giving back to the ever-growing reptile community by being proactive, supporting those new and established to the hobby, and sharing market research

Quality over quantity

We strive to work with the best examples of each morph. We don't sell ourselves short! The best looking combos come from the highest quality parents.

PhD Exotics is more than a highly regarded breeder of ball pythons, we are a resource of knowledge, market analysis, and public advocacy for the well being of the reptile community.

Inside Our Facility

The PhD Exotics is located in sunny Southern California. We maintain a clean and well organized breeding facility that translates into thriving, breeding, and hatching ball pythons!

We use animal plastics racks to house subadults and adults and C-serpent hatchling racks to house babies and juveniles. Rack heating agents (flexwatt) are regulated by herpstat and helix thermostats. Our current substrate of choice is newspaper because it soaks excrement well and is inexpensive. F10 disinfectant and chlorhexidine in spray bottles are kept in stock for daily cleaning.

We also keep a high quality ultrasound handy during breeding seasons to track female follicle growth. This machine is priceless and I highly recommend its usage if you are serious about maximizing your breeding potential. If you would like to inquire or purchase a high quality and affordable ultrasound machine, please contact me.

A homemade incubator is used to produce the right temperature gradient to successfully hatch eggs. A wine cooler was converted into an egg hatching machine by adding heat tape, computer fans, water bottles, and using a to help regulate temperatures.
